Airman Spencer Stone continues his recovery in the hospital from a near-fatal midtown Sacramento stabbing while his fellow French train hero Alek Skarlotas is doing better after a much less serious injury from his television dance partner.
Stone, 23, became internationally known two months ago when he and Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, boyhood friends from Sacramento, tackled and subdued a would-be terrorist on a Paris-bound train.
The man was armed with an AK-47, a Luger pistol and a box cutter. Stone suffered cuts to the neck and a deep wound on a thumb in that incident.
After recovering somewhat from those heroic actions, Stone suffered more injury last week when he was stabbed during a late-night brawl at the corner of 21st and K streets. He was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center where his condition was stabilized.
The medical center reported Monday afternoon that Stone remained in fair condition.
No arrests have been announced in the case.
Meanwhile, an online GoFundMe page called Midtown’s Stand Against Violence has raised $2,155 after three days. Money raised in the fund, administered by the Midtown Business Association, will go toward a reward for any tip leading to the arrest of those who attacked Stone.
The Midtown Business Association, Faces Nightclub, Mango's Sacramento, Badlands, Sidetrax, and Low Brau Bierhall will match up to $3,500 raised from the public through the GoFundMe.
Over the weekend, Skarlatos posted a picture on Instagram of himself and a convalescing Stone at the medical center. He then continued on to Southern California where he has been appearing on the Dancing with the Stars television show.
Paragraph 4 states "Stone suffered more injury last week when he was stabbed during a late-night brawl". Its pretty crazy to hear that after Spencer Stone returns home from a traumatic train incident where him and his friends saved the lives of many and then less than three months later in his home town he is stabbed. Its good to hear though that money is being funded and companies are willing to help out to go out of their way to raise money so a reward may be given for any tips that will help put the attacker behind bars.

In the article entitled "Hero Spencer Stone remains in hospital as reward fund grows," the Sacramento Bee talks about the recent tragedies bestowed on Spencer Stone in the past two months. The Sacramento Bee writes, "After recovering somewhat from those heroic actions, Stone suffered more injury last week when he was stabbed during a late-night brawl at the corner of 21st and K streets" (Sacramento Bee pg 4). It is sickening that there are people in our world who would try to deliberately hurt someone who did a heroic act. I hope that more people turn out to be like Spencer Stone and I am glad to hear he is doing well in recovery.

I agree that there needs to be more people like Spencer Stone, and that people needs to be better towards each other. A great example is how,"Midtown’s Stand Against Violence has raised $2,155 after three days." This shows that there is still good in the world somewhere and that people still have some goodness in there hearts. Now imagine if a whole lot of people stood up together for a good cause, and imagine all the good things that would do for the world.

In the last paragraph, it states that "He then continued on to Southern California where he has been appearing on the Dancing with the Stars television show"(Sacramento Bee pg 8). It amazing after being beat up and injuries to the throat keeps Stone doing his passion and looks to the future then letting one beat down and ending it all.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Stone saved the lives of many innocent people on a train ride two months ago in Paris. "Hero Spencer Stone remains in Hospital as Reward Fund Grows" by the Sacramento Bee shares with the public the unfortunate attack on the heroic Spencer Stone in Sacramento. " Stone suffered more injury last week when he was stabbed during a late-night brawl at the corner of 21st and K streets"(Sacramento Bee). It is horrific to see a man that risks everything to save people is targeted and finds himself in a potentially life threatening situation. This is an example that bad things truly do happen to good people.

Spencer Stone is a hero. He saved the lives of many on a train in Paris, suffering from some injuries. After recovering, "Stone suffered more injury last week when he was stabbed during a late-night brawl at the corner of 21st and K streets” (Sacramento Bee). It’s traumatizing to hear that a man willing to risk his life for others, gets punished for his heroic acts. But Stone doesn’t let this stop him. He once again is recovering from his injuries. Luckily, money is being funded to help with the arrest of the attackers.

Spencer stone saved many lives of many innocent on the train ride. It happened two months ago. He suffered though from someone stabbing him. He risked his life so save other people and then got hurt himself. He is know still recovering from miltiple injuries.

Spencer Stone is a hero in the way he saved many lives on the innocent people on the train ride in Paris. When he did this he risked his life and put himself in a bad situation. Many if not all people on that train are thankful for him and thank him everyday.
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad to hear that Spencer Stone got attacked after saving the lives of many people. I guess that people don't understand what it means to be a hero and just don't understand that what he did was good. "Stone suffered more injury last week when he was stabbed during a late-night brawl". It is a miracle he is still alive after that but it just shows god is on his side.
ReplyDeleteThis is heartbreaking. Spencer Stone saved so many people, only to be rewarded by more injury. I don't quite understand why people feel the need to do this sort of thing. Why do you feel you need to hurt somebody like that? Spencer Stone is a hero and I give my best wishes for his recovery.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Stone is a heroic person! Its extremely sad to hear that after demonstrating his heroic actions on the train, he suffers from a stabbing wound. However it is encouraging to know that funds are being raised and people are going out of their ways to support him.

This irrational act of violence is unacceptable and extremely heartbreaking. Spencer Stone is one who saved the lives of so many people and was rewarded with three stab wounds to the back. The fact that more than one person would think to hurt such a generous person is disgusting and should be dealt with as quickly, efficiently, and accordingly as possible. Despite this tragedy, it is inspiring that people are willing to donate a portion of their own money for the capture of the culprit in this case.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Stone is a hero. If he wouldn't have done what he did in that train many people would have died. He "and Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, boyhood friends from Sacramento, tackled and subdued a would-be terrorist on a Paris-bound train"(Sacramento Bee). This, "would be terrorist," was carrying "an AK-47, a Luger pistol and a box cutter" so this would have turned out very badly (Sacramento Bee). Right now Spencer Stone is in the hospital right now recovering from many many cuts, bruises and some deep wounds. At the moment foundations are raising money for their hostility and etc.

Spencer Stone is a hero. If not for him many people could have died. "Stone, 23, became internationally known two months ago when he and Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, boyhood friends from Sacramento, tackled and subdued a would-be terrorist on a Paris-bound train," (Sacramento Bee). From this quote you can clearly tell that Stone is a hero. Anyone who puts there life on the line for someone else is a hero. And that is exactly what Stone did.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Stone is a bold and brave man. To jump a terrorist and risk his life like that saved a lot of peoples lives on that train. He was also stabbed at a corner and sent to the hospital at a critical condition. The stabber hasn't been claimed but people started a fund to go out and try to find the criminal. Anybody who puts their own life before others should be considered a hero in some type of way.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Stone is a hero and should be rewarded for what he did in Paris. He should not have been attacked again when he was just starting to get better. It's a good thing that the people are saving money for him because he deserves it for what he did. He is a hero and should be treated like one.

Spencer stone is a hero! He should be rewarded for what he did in Paris because a lot of people wouldn't have been able to do what he did! It's great that people are raising money for him! It's great they have a gofundme to help stop violence! Spencer stone is a hero! I wish there were more people like him in our society.

I think it is crazy that after saving multiple lives somebody would try and harm that good mans life and that they were humanly capable of hurting somebody who has that courage. im glad they have stared a fund to help find the man who did this to him and he deserevs a reward, he is a hero who doestn deserve the pain hes enduring right now
ReplyDeletei think it is terrible what happened to Spencer after all he did in Paris. He is a Hero and i am glad that people are raising money for him. he deserves it for all he did.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Stone and Alek Skarlotas are both heroes, and what they did on that train was incredible. They prevented a terrorist attack and saved lives. Both put themselves in great danger, and were clearly willing to risk their lives, given the fact that they knew that he had firearms. It is a tragedy that Mr. Stone was attacked during his recovery, and almost equally terrible that the perpetrators have not been apprehended yet. It is truly a fantastic thing that there is a group of people that are raising money for Stone's and Skarlotas' recoveries. It is also very good that the Sacramento Bee is raising awareness for their situation.

this man was a great person that tried to save all the people. it is very disappointing that he got injured but i is an amazing thing that he did for all those people."Airman Spencer Stone continues his recovery in the hospital from a near-fatal midtown Sacramento stabbing while his fellow French train hero Alek Skarlotas is doing better after a much less serious injury from his television dance partner.

Stone suffered cuts to the neck and a deep wound on a thumb in that incident." i am sure that many people wish that they could be a hero much like him. it is very sad that he got injured for help ping all those people.
The fact that someone would intentionally harm a hero is sickening. Spencer saved multiple lives and in return, he got multiple stab wounds. Its horrifying that someone would wish harm upon someone like this. Nobody deserves to go through pain like that especially after doing what he did.
ReplyDeleteSpencer Stone is a hero. To put others before your self like that is truly amazing. And it is disappointing to hear that people would deliberately hurt someone who helped stop “a would-be terrorist on a Paris-bound train(Sacramento Bee).” But, it is encouraging to hear that they have a “ GoFundMe page called Midtown’s Stand Against Violence has raised $2,155 after three days(Sacramento Bee).”
ReplyDelete"Money raised in the fund, administered by the Midtown Business Association, will go toward a reward for any tip leading to the arrest of those who attacked Stone." Honestly, it is good to have a community pitch in to make this happen, but I don't think there should be a reward. It's kind of disheartening to see that because society should value safety over reward. Do it because it's just and for the protection of everyone, not so you can get some cash.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Spencer Stone is a true American hero. We need more people like him because of his bravery and confidence. The article says that he stopped a terrorist-like man who was armed and could have potentially killed people. It is good seeing that there is a fundraiser for him and that it also has been raising money. For his friend, it's good that he is recovering well, but thought are out there for Stone and his recovery as well.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad how people would attack and harm someone who risked there life to save many others. How someone could try to harm and kill someone who would do all of that is sickening and the fact that we can't find who did this to him is terrible. It's great there is a reward on any information someone can provide but someone should be able to give information for free and to want to lock those people up. You should do it for the safety of others and yourself not for a reward of money.
ReplyDeleteSometimes things like this just make me upset. I can't believe that people would attack someone who risked there life to save others. "After recovering somewhat from those heroic actions, Stone suffered more injury last week when he was stabbed during a late-night brawl at the corner of 21st and K streets," (Sac Bee). As you can see soon after he recovered he was attacked again.
