Current Events Requirement

As citizens in a democratic society, it is our responsibility to be aware of events going on in the world around us.  As Thomas Jefferson said, "Wherever the people are well informed they can be trusted with their own government."  By studying current events, we enlighten and empower ourselves to make educated choices in our democratic system.

This assignment requires you to read up on current events every week.  On Sunday, a minimum of (2) current events will be posted.  You will have until Friday afternoon to post (1) comment on an article.  You will be able to choose which article you would like to comment on.  It may be an original comment or you may choose to respond to a peer's comment, either would give you credit for the assignment.  Your comment must be a minimum of 4-6 sentences and adhere to the principles of being a good digital citizen (see graphic below).  Any posts that violate this code will be removed and you will not given credit for the assignment that week.  Civil discourse is required!!

For "The Apprentice," Trump was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in January 2007.

Point Value: 5 points/week

Extra Credit Option: If you include a quote from the article in your response, you will receive 2 points extra credit!
